Use the ScreenPal extension to create an AI ticket in GitHub without a template

You can use the ScreenPal Chrome extension with GitHub to record video bug reports and feature requests. The ScreenPal extension will use AI to automatically fill in information within the GitHub ticket, using the narration in your video.

In order to use this feature, you must first install the ScreenPal Chrome extension, available in the Chrome web store.

If you would like to create ScreenPal templates within GitHub to more quickly and efficiently auto-fill your tickets, please see our article titled Use the ScreenPal extension in GitHub to create an AI ticket using a template.  To use this feature without a template, follow the steps below.

1. Create a new issue in GitHub.

2. Within the description text box, hover over the ScreenPal extension icon (displayed in the lower right corner).  You will then see options for Bug Report and Feature Request.

3. Click Bug Report or Feature Request.
This opens the recorder within your browser tab and displays the following message:

4. Click the red Record button to create your screen recording.

5. When you are finished, click the Pause button within the browser tab from which you launched the ScreenPal recorder.

6. Next, click the green Done button.

The ScreenPal AI tool takes a few moments to process your recording.  When it is finished, you will see your issue automatically filled with the video thumbnail and relevant information pulled from your video's narration by our AI tool.

Having Trouble?

If you do not see the ScreenPal icon within the textbox on github.com, or do not see the options for Bug Report and Feature Request, ensure all of the ScreenPal extension settings for github.com are enabled.  For information about how to access and change these settings, please see Hide and show the ScreenPal extension on websites.
