Use the ScreenPal extension in GitHub to create an AI ticket using a template

You can use the ScreenPal Chrome extension with GitHub to record video bug reports and feature requests. The ScreenPal extension will then use AI to automatically fill in the information within the GitHub ticket, using the narration in your video.

In order to use this feature, you must first install the ScreenPal Chrome extension from the Chrome web store.

You can create video bug reports and feature requests in one of two ways: With ScreenPal templates or without.

When you use templates within GitHub that contain tags that the ScreenPal extension can recognize, the the extension can:
  1. Launch automatically when you open a ticket that uses a ScreenPal template.
  2. Wait for you to finish your screen recording with narration describing the issue (what you would typically write in the ticket).
  3. Process your recording using AI to generate data for each field type.
  4. Automatically fill in all the fields that contain tags.
Several sample templates are available for you to download at the bottom of this article.

You can also create your own templates  using the following tags:

 ScreenPal video thumbnail link
 [ScreenPal: ThumbnailLink]
 Video summary
 [ScreenPal: Summary]
 Video chapters list/Steps to reproduce
 [ScreenPal: ChaptersList]
 Dictation of expected behavior
 [ScreenPal: ExpectedBehavior]
 Dictation of actual behavior
 [ScreenPal: ActualBehavior]

Note: You must also add the following text to the top of your template:
<<< ScreenPal: BugReport - Browser Extension Required >>>
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/screenpal-screen-recorder/mgikkebdjbjnlfehgnkdkboiecgjnaon

A finished template will look similar to:
