Sync ScreenPal Quiz Scores with the Blackboard LMS Gradebook

Sync ScreenPal Quiz Scores with the Blackboard LMS Gradebook

When you are part of a Team Plan and your administrator has configured ScreenPal with Blackboard learning management system (LMS) using the LTI v1.3 plug-in, you can embed ScreenPal quizzes in your Blackboard assignments and then automatically sync your students' scores from ScreenPal to your Blackboard Gradebook. Just follow the steps below.

Create and assign a quiz in ScreenPal

1. Log into your ScreenPal Team Plan account and go to your Library.
2. From the menu in the top left, select Quizzes.

The All menu expanded with the Quizzes option circled in pink.

3. From the Quizzes page, select an existing quiz, or click +New Quiz to create a new one.  For more information about how to create a quiz, see our article titled Create, view, and score a quiz.
4. After you have finished creating your quiz, click the Assignment & Settings tab.
5. Click LMS.
If your ScreenPal account is not currently integrated with an LMS like Blackboard, the LMS option will not be available.

Here, you can see that ScreenPal is currently connected to Blackboard.

6. Select one of the following options under Grading:
  1. To enable automatic syncing of your students' quiz scores to your Blackboard gradebook, select Auto-sync to gradebook
  2. To grade quizzes manually from ScreenPal's Individual Results tab and then manually sync the grades with your Blackboard gradebook, select Manually grade.
Notes
Note: The Auto-sync to gradebook option is not available for quizzes that include short-answer questions, as they require manual grading.

Next, go to Blackboard.

Assign a quiz in Blackboard

For information about how to add content to a course in Blackboard, follow the steps outlined in Add ScreenPal to a course in Blackboard.

Sync quiz scores to your Blackboard Gradebook

1. After one or more students has taken your quiz, log into the ScreenPal account from which you created the quiz.
2. Select the quiz and go to the Individual Results tab.
If you selected Auto-sync to gradebook for the quiz and none of the quiz questions require manual grading, you will see a message stating the date and time at which the quiz scores were last synced to Blackboard.

If you selected Manually grade for the quiz, you will see a Send to gradebook button. After you have graded any quiz questions that require manual grading, click Send to gradebook to send the quiz scores to Blackboard.

After you click Send to gradebook, the date and time at which you last synced to Blackboard is displayed.
Additionally, the Sync updates button is now available so you can sync the quiz scores again if you make adjustments to them.

To view these scores in Blackboard, log in and open the course. Then click the Gradebook tab at the top of the course page.
