Why can I only record for 5 minutes with the Screen Recorder?

Why can I only record for 5 minutes with the Screen Recorder?

Recording time can be limited to 5 minutes for one of two reasons:
  1. Max Time is set to 00:05:00
  2. Your device's hard drive is full

Max Time is limited

It is necessary to be logged into a ScreenPal account to record longer than 5 minutes. The Free plan limits recordings to 15 minutes, while Solo and Team plans have no max limit.

If you have an account and the Screen Recorder displays a Max Time of 00:05:00, the desktop app has become untethered from your account credentials:

Max Time is 5 minutes

If this is the case, login to screenpal.com (or register here if you don't already have an account), then click Create > Record Video > Desktop Recorder:
Launch desktop app Screen Recorder from Create menu

Relaunching the desktop app from the website using the steps above will retether the app to your user account credentials and remove the 5 minute limit.

Max Time is None but recordings are still cut short

If the Screen Recorder shows Max Time as None, recordings can still end automatically if your computer's hard drive is full.
