Upgrade ScreenPal LTI to version 1.3 with Schoology

Upgrade ScreenPal LTI to version 1.3 with Schoology

If you were previously using Schoology with ScreenPal LTI version 1.1, follow the steps below to delete this instance and then complete the installation instructions outlined in Set up ScreenPal in Schoology LMS using LTI v1.3 to upgrade to LTI version 1.3.

Use of the LTI app is only supported for Team Business and Team Education plans.

Remove ScreenPal LTI version 1.1

To provide the best experience to instructors and reduce confusion between the two LTI integrations, it is best practice to delete the ScreenPal LTI 1.1 tools before installing version 1.3. However, please read the following note before deleting.

AlertOnly remove ScreenPal LTI v1.1 if it is no longer in use by your institution. ScreenPal videos that were embedded in Schoology using LTI v1.1 will continue to work, provided that you used deep linking to embed them (embedding a ScreenPal video in a Description field, for example).  Resource links, however, will no longer work if you remove v1.1.  Resource links are those added using the Change Content bar at the top of a video.   If your organization is currently using resource links, you should leave LTI version 1.1 installed until version 1.3 has been installed and thoroughly tested, and all resource links that were added using v1.1 have been replaced.  There is no immediate need to remove ScreenPal LTI v1.1 from you Schoology instance. You should, however, begin adding new ScreenPal embeds using LTI v1.3 as soon as it is installed.

1. Log into Schoology as an administrator.
2. Click the Tools menu and select School Management
3. Select Integration from the menu on the left.
4. Click the External Tools tab.
5. Click the X to the right of the ScreenPal LTI v1.1 tool. (This may say Screencast-O-Matic for earlier installations.)
6. Click Submit on the confirmation pop-up that is displayed.

That's it! Next, go to Set up ScreenPal in Schoology LMS using LTI v1.3 to install ScreenPal LTI version 1.3.
