This message may appear if the app is currently minimized or if there is a caching issue.
To quickly check whether the app is minimized or behind another window, press the Alt + Tab hotkey in Windows, or the command + tab hotkey in macOS until the ScreenPal window appears.
If after cycling through all open apps you return to the app you initially had in focus, you may still be able to open the Screen Recorder via the small ScreenPal icon in the Windows system tray or macOS menu bar.
Important: The ScreenPal icon on the Windows desktop/taskbar and macOS dock is not to be confused with the smaller ScreenPal icon located in the Windows system tray or macOS menu bar. The desktop/taskbar/dock icons will attempt to launch the app, whereas the system tray and menu bar icons will initialize the desired UI for the app that is already running in the background (e.g. Screen Recorder).
This article provides guidance on how to access the ScreenPal icon in the Windows system tray or macOS menu bar.
If that fails to resolve the issue, please power your device off and back on to clear the system and app cache.
