Import and paste text into a story

Import and paste text into a story

There are several ways you can add script text using our Storyboard feature.

Paste text

You can copy text from an external source and paste it into the Script sections of a story.

When you copy more than one line of text (that is, text that includes a carriage return between each line), the following dialog is displayed:

To paste all of the text, including line breaks, into one section of your story, select Into one section.
To paste each separate line of text into a separate storyboard section, select Into more than one section. ScreenPal will add a story section for each separate line of text.

When you've made your selection, click Paste Text to continue.

Import text

You can also import text script that you have written outside of the ScreenPal application. This text must be plain text in the form of a .txt file.  These types of text files can be created using Microsoft Notepad, Apple TextEdit, and apps like NotePad++ for Windows.

If you wrote your original script in Google Documents or Microsoft Word, you can copy and paste the text from that document into a .txt file. Be sure that all special characters are formatted correctly.

When you import your .txt file into your Story, each paragraph, or section of text with a carriage return before and after it, will be imported into a separate section.

For example, the following text file:

Will be imported into your Storyboard like this:

To import a text file into your story, follow the steps below.

1. Click the Import/Export button in the top right corner of the Storyboard.
2. Click Import Text.

3. Select the .txt file you want to import from the file selection box and then click Open.
Result: The text is imported into your Storyboard.
