Click Submit. Note: You can ignore the Consumer Key and Shared Secret fields.
You're done. Now teachers can embed their screen recordings directly into their courses, announcements, assignments, or anywhere the rich text editor is available.
If you are a teacher, you can add and use the Screencast-O-Matic LTI app to your Canvas instance courses without an admin. Read the instructions below or watch a video on how teachers can add the Screencast-O-Matic LTI app.
First, choose a course and go to Settings and select the Apps Tab (as seen below).
If the Screencast-O-Matic app is already shown in the list, no further action is needed. If not, click on "View App Configurations" and then "+App".
Just like above for admins, input the following in the configuration screen that appears:
https://screencast-o-matic.com/lti/xml
Click Submit. Note: You can ignore the Consumer Key and Shared Secret fields.
As a teacher, you've now added the Screencast-O-Matic LTI app to your course. You can click on this icon shown below in the rich text editor to add screen recordings, channels, or a Screencast-O-Matic screen recorder that your students can submit their own recordings with.
You're all set. Enjoy making use of the Screencast-O-Matic LTI app within assignments in courses or any other place in the Canvas LMS where a rich text editor is present.
You can use the LTI App for your team to access the Deluxe Plan tools (screen recorder and video editor) and the Premier Plan tools with the advanced hosting features (embedding a video channel, adding a screen recorder button for student assignments, etc.).
In order for a Team Plan user to access the features of a Deluxe or Premier Plan, the admin for the plan will need to configure the LTI App with a private consumer key and secret.
First, login with your Admin account and go to your "My Plan tab from your account page". Under Access Page, click on "Setup".
Make sure the LTI plugin is enabled (click checkbox next to "Use Pro Recorder in your LMS"), and find the Key and Secret values in the fields below. Copy each value and we will take these values back to the Canvas configuration screen. These are unique to the team account, and should not be shared with anyone outside of your team.
Open another window or tab in your browser. Login to your Canvas instance as an admin. Click on Admin, then Settings. Finally click on the Apps tab to configure the Screencast-O-Matic app as an external app.
Next, click on "View App Configurations".
And next click on "+App" to add the Screencast-O-Matic LTI app and configuration screen will appear.
Input the following:
https://screencast-o-matic.com/lti/xml
After all fields are filled out, click Submit. Now you can enjoy the upgraded features of your Deluxe or Premier account using your LTI app.
First, check to make sure your team account is upgraded to a Deluxe or Premier plan. Access to the video editor is only included within these plans.
If you have a Deluxe or Premier account, check your Canvas app settings (or ask your Canvas Administrator to check/configure) to make sure you have the consumer key and secret added in, as in the instructions above.
